The aim was to ensure that the materials used externally were in keeping with the personality of the existing part of the property and its surroundings.

The new accommodation on the first floor provides a bedroom for the client with an adjoining en-suite bath and shower room. Attached to the claimant’s bedroom, a therapy room has been built which allows the client to easily access the room from both the ground floor and first floor, via the new lift system.

On the ground floor, the extension provides the client and his family with extra living space including an activity room hosting the discreet lift access to the first floor. The extension also provides an extra W/C and a handy utility room with a back door leading straight outside under a covered way to the newly built garage. The garage is equipped with electric doors to ease the transition of the client and his family to and from the property.

Externally, the area surrounding the rear of the house has been refurbished with new paving to allow the client to independently use his wheelchair on an even surface. This provides the client with much needed level access in and out of the property.
